There are moments when the body
needs a physical challenge and those moments when life presents
the challenges for you, moments when simply quieting the mind, coming
to breath are what the body needs. Terri strives to create an atmosphere
where the needs of each individual are respected. Believing in the
benefits of moving meditation, she strives to cultivate this in
her classes through the combination of flowing asana, directed poses
and instruction, peaceful music and the suggestion of setting an
intention. Whether teaching a powerful, athletic class or a gentle
class for beginners, she emphasizes a gratitude for life through
an appreciation and celebration of the body, and spirit –
just as it is at this moment. Acceptance, beginning with self is
emphasized. Her goal is for students to leave feeling balanced and
at peace.
Terri's path has been one of many diversions. She came to the practice
with a curiosity and a desire to find a new way
to exercise, ironically choosing an "exercise" thousands
of years old. Initially yoga was just a physical practice for her,
providing many fun challenges. In fact, she could often be caught
sneaking out of class during Savasana (relaxation). Over the years,
as life presented many highs and lows, yoga became helped her find
balance along the way. She now has tremendous respect for this ancient
practice and has a deep desire to pass this gift to others.
Terri is a certified E-200 RYT with Yoga Alliance. A perpetual student
of yoga who feeds her desire for growth by attending national conferences
and workshops, teaching, tending to her personal practice and through
self study. When off the yoga mat she can be found at the studio
joyfully working, or at home gratefully savoring her simple yet
abundant life, filled with loving friends and extended family, supportive
husband, two amazing daughters, and numerous pets.
